We are a network united by a desire to see a generation of New England college students passionate for Christ and His church. We work to see this happen by multiplying missional collegiate leaders in partnership with the local church.
We are responsible to the churches of the Baptist Convention of New England and are aided by their support of the cooperative program. Partners in this effort include the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention and individuals and churches supportive of the vision.
Why New England? Historically, New England has long ties between Christianity and the college. Ivy League schools were founded with a desire to spread the Gospel throughout America. Revival has spread throughout the colleges of New England and the history of American missions to the world can be traced to New England students.
With more than 250 accredited colleges and universities, New England is America’s educational capital. The quality of education in New England attracts the best and brightest students and scholars from around the world. All manner of disciplines and opportunities await students in New England. Today, however, the spiritual climate is different from that which fostered the birth of American missions to the world. Rather than being founded on truth, education is a search for truth. The Baptist Convention of New England seeks to proclaim Truth on the campuses of New England through presenting a gospel witness to students and leading students to Christ, who is Truth. We believe that seeing a generation of New England collegians passionate for God will influence not only an entire region of North America, but also radiate throughout the world.
Why missional leaders? Christ set an example for his disciples and entrusted them with truth. He chose men who would teach others what He taught them. Further, He chose men who, other than Judas, would not abandon the mission. The college campus is the crossroads of culture: ideas, philosophies, worldviews, lifestyles, and core values all intersect in college. Discipling students who will be missional leaders at the crossroads of culture will lead students to make choices for Christ in the crossroads of their lives. We believe missional student leaders are at the forefront of a generation passionate for God.
Why the local church? Christ established His church to represent Him on the earth. The church is His body, His possession, His people, consisting of the redeemed that He purchased with His own blood. A Christian, whether in college or in vocation, must be connected with the church to be growing as a disciple. While a campus ministry may present a Gospel witness, it is incomplete when separated from the local church and cannot develop completely mature disciples. Students are gifted, as are all Christians, for the building up of the church, which we believe to be the best body to witness to the local community, including the campus, for Christ. A generation passionate for God will be vitally involved in the local church.
